Every moissanite piece ships with a numbered Estara certificate in the box. It is the record of your piece: the stone, its grade, the carat weight and the metal. We grade moissanite on the same 4Cs framework used for diamonds, and we keep a record of every certificate we issue.

Moissanite is a lab grown gemstone made of silicon carbide. It has strong fire, so it throws rainbow flashes in the light, and it is hard enough to wear every day. Every Estara moissanite is set by hand in our own workshop in India.

Questions about moissanite
Is moissanite a real gemstone?
Yes. Moissanite is a real gemstone made of silicon carbide, first found in a meteor crater in Arizona in 1893. Natural moissanite is so rare that the stones used in fine jewelry today are lab grown. Every Estara moissanite is D color and VVS clarity, scores 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale, and is set in our own workshop in India.
How is moissanite graded at Estara?
We grade every moissanite on the same 4Cs framework used for diamonds: color, clarity, cut and carat weight. Every stone we set is D color, the top of the color scale, and VVS clarity. Your numbered Estara certificate records the stone, its grade, the carat weight and the metal. The carat printed is the carat you receive, never less.
Does moissanite get cloudy?
No. Moissanite is a stable crystal, so it will not turn cloudy or lose its sparkle over time. If your stone looks less bright, it is usually a film of lotion, soap or skin oil. Soak it in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, then rinse and dry with a lint-free cloth.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping is free and insured on every order, with tracking from our workshop to your door. Orders are dispatched within 2 business days, and delivery takes 6 to 10 business days. We email your tracking number as soon as your piece is on its way, and your Estara certificate is in the box.
Can I return it?
Yes. You can return your piece within 14 days, and we send a free return label in the US and Canada. Rings also get one free resize within 60 days, in US sizes 4 to 9, including half sizes. Our limited lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects for as long as you own your piece. Normal wear is not covered.
Can I choose lab grown diamond instead?
Yes. Many of our engagement rings and earrings also come in lab grown diamond, with an Estara certificate and IGI certification on every piece. At 1 ct in 14K gold the two are close in price, so choose the look you love. See our lab grown diamonds, or ask us for a custom ring with either center stone.
